It’s springtime and that means it’s time for the flowers to bloom. Ah, flowers! Nature’s confetti, bursting with color and personality. If you’ve ever strolled through a garden and felt like you were in a floral fashion show, you’re not alone.

Bluebonnets Left Us Blue

While the bluebonnets were a bit of a strikeout this year, the potted plant variety of blossom did not disappoint. These blooms were all found over at my local garden center, a place I call my “Borrowed Garden.” I believe they are bougainvillea, a variety of punk rock style daisies, and some calibrachoa, but I could be wrong about all of this. You know how I am with plants and all. (Hey, kids, can you say, “angel of death? We thought you could!”)

Blossoms and Beyond in Full Bloom

This collection, featured in the recent “Blossoms and Beyond” virtual floral and garden online art exhibit sponsored by The City Arts Center for the City of Round Rock, Texas, is here to remind us that life is too short for dull colors. It’s spring and that means it’s time to put on some pink and diva up the plant life around here. Even Texas can put on a show before the hundred and stupid degree days set in, right?

Let’s dive into this floral fiesta, shall we?

Punk Rock Diva Daisies in Full Bloom

First, we’re greeted by a duo of daisies that seem to have taken a page from a fashion magazine. With their spiky petals and bold colors, they’re the trendsetters of the garden. You can almost hear them gossiping about the latest garden gossip, can’t you? “Did you see how the tulips are trying to steal our spotlight?” Classic. I like to think of these as sort of punk rock daisies, nice and spiky with a hint of pink sass.

Calibra-what?

Next up, we have a delightful cluster of calibrachoa, or as the Internet calls them, the “mini petunias.” These little guys are like the cheerful sidekicks of the flower world, always ready to brighten your day. With their cheerful yellow centers and pink petals, they’re the perfect reminder that sometimes, it’s the small things that bring the most joy. Plus, they’re a low-maintenance bloom, because who has time for high-maintenance flowers when you’re busy living your best life?

Bougainvillea Blooms Made Easy

And then, we have the bougainvillea, those pink petals that are like the overachievers of the flower world. They are always showing off, always vibrant. They practically scream, “Look at me!” as they cascade down walls and fences. If you’ve ever tried to grow them, you know they can be a bit dramatic, requiring just the right amount of sun and water. But hey, who doesn’t love a little drama in their life?

Life is a Garden in Full Bloom

So, what’s the takeaway from this floral extravaganza? Life is a garden, and we’re all just trying to bloom in our own unique way. Whether you’re a bougainvillea, a daisy, or a calibrachoa, embrace your colors and let your personality shine. After all, in a world full of beige, be a bouquet of pink!

Virtual Flower and Garden Show

You can check out the entire virtual flower and garden show if you are in the Round Rock City Arts Center or you can see it here. It’s a large display of flowers and garden love:

I hope you enjoy the virtual flower show and that you got some springtime outdoor activities in, because summer will be here before you know it.

Until next time…
