You know how autumn has a way of wrapping everything in a cozy blanket of color? Well, this image captures that essence, albeit in a wonderfully abstract way. What do you see? Is it a dance of leaves, or perhaps a gentle whisper of nature’s transition? The soft, blurred colors remind me of those moments when the world feels a little dreamier, don’t you think? It’s like nature decided to play a game of hide-and-seek with our senses.
It’s pretty much a new season, folks. I have to say, even with the heat here in the Texas Hill Country, I am seeing the first glimpse of autumn. The kids are back in school, I see the school busses rolling along, the aurora has been spotted, and the mornings are getting a bit cooler. Dare I say it, there is a slight breeze on some days and it even feels like the blast from the hot Texas sun is getting a bit more tolerable.
If that were not enough, it’s shaping up to be a busy show season. I’ve got a lot of news to share on that front.
For starters, I recently appeared on a podcast! If you recall my last foray into the podcast realm, this one is a bit different. Recently, I sat down with the wonderfully talented Hava Gurevich for, “I Love Your Stories.” We talked about tech, a little about AI, about the moment it clicks, and about days in New York. You can find it wherever you get your podcast episodes, but you can also find it on this link.
I’m also over the moon excited to share the news that I’ve been interviewed with the good folks over at Voyage Austin. I sat down with them to talk about, “Life, Lessons, and Legacy,” and you can check out my interview here.
In show news, you can find my work in the following places:
- At Penfold Theatre Gallery in Round Rock as part of the “Personalities” exhibition from Round Rock Arts.
- At Austin ArtSpace Gallery as part of the Austin Visual Arts Association’s “New Works,” show.
- At Water 2 Wine in Austin, Texas as part of the NAPFS group photography show.
I’m also excited about the iPhone App Shuffler Workshop, which starts this Wednesday, September 10th. If you are the iPhone art kind, come and join in on the fun. This is shaping up to be a great workshop where I will share a lot of tips, tricks, and iPhone goodness. You can find out details over at the Colorado Photographic Arts (CPACphoto)’s website: CPACphoto.org.

I’ve always been drawn to the abstract because it leaves room for the imagination. It’s like a conversation rather than a definition. What do you see when you look at it? Does it evoke memories of crisp autumn days, or maybe a longing for the warmth of summer?
Autumn is shaping up to be both a bit of a blur and a wonderful abstract from where I sit. I hope you are enjoying summer’s last gasp as much as I am.
And let’s be honest, who doesn’t love a little mystery? The autumn abstracts invite you to step closer, to lean in and explore the layers of color and emotion, to really soak up that autumn palette. One of the things I love the most about autumn is the colors. Rich jewel tones, red leaves, an autumn palette is both subtle and breathtaking all at the same time.
An abstract with an autumn palette is a reminder that sometimes, the beauty of life is found in the soft edges and gentle transitions, rather than the sharp lines we often seek.
Now, I can’t help but wonder…if you could capture a season in a single image, what would it look like? Would it be vibrant and bold, or soft and muted like the maple leaf?
And remember, as we embrace the changing seasons, let’s also embrace the beauty in the blur. After all, isn’t that what makes life so wonderfully unpredictable?
Until next time…
