I’m back. Did you miss me? Took a quick trip to Seattle for a short visit. While I was only there for a short stay again this time, I did somehow manage to time it so that I found myself smack dab in the middle of autumn. As my flight landed, I could see that almost every tree in the city was orange, yellow, or even a little bit red. Lots of fall colors to share with you!

I had not planned a lot of photo trips this time, as it was only a brief visit, but I could not resist taking a walk or two out in the autumn colors. I also managed to get some night photography in while I was there, as my hotel had a wonderful balcony, but the leaves really caught my eye for this trip. Sometimes, when you find yourself with a gift such as autumn in full splendor, I feel it’s best to not pass this up, and to try to take advantage of it while you are there. For me, it was unexpected but I decided to focus on the fall colors, especially given that, should I find myself out Seattle way again, I probably won’t get as lucky.

My hotel was right in the heart of the city, as I was very near the Space Needle. There was a lot of rain and overcast skies, but that’s Seattle for you, right? I wound up walking down towards the Space Needed but stopped in a park along the way to shoot the leaves. The park was kind of interesting. Not very big, but located in the middle of the city, it had some large trees and a lot of fall color, with almost everything being a lovely shade of yellow. There are a lot of maple trees there, and these make for great images. Growing up I had a lot of maple trees nearby and I kind of miss them a bit. It was great to be out in the big trees during autumn, with lots of leaves on the ground.

When I was a kid, I used to have to rake leaves. It’s not a hard chore for a kid, truth be told it can be kind of fun but sometimes it gets cold and you just want to go inside. Fast forward to Seattle, it was nice to be out in all of those leaves without having to rake anything. There were also a ton of dogs so I got to play with all of the pups out in the leaves. Good times!

I’ll share more, especially some of the night images at some point, but wanted to share the autumn scenes today, as we are fast approaching the change in the seasons. It will be autumn soon enough if it’s not already, maybe even old man winter is sneaking in early this year. Nice to celebrate a little bit of fall as an unexpected treat.

I never did make it all the way to the Space Needle but the place I was staying had a rooftop deck with an excellent view, so I did manage to see it and even took an iPhone shot for posterity. It feels good to be back in River City but I did enjoy my quick little jaunt out to Seattle. Look for more images to come here or on my social media accounts and I hope you have a great autumn wherever it happens to find you.

Until next time…
