In this series, I craft images in a surreal style that represent archetypes. Images that exist between worlds, a place where dreams and reality merge, and the unseen whispers its truths. Using multiple exposure photography, I layer fragments of time, color, and form to unveil something greater—a synthesis of identity and imagination. The archetypes: the Writer, the Gardener, the Bird Watcher, the Artist—are not mere characters; they are reflections of universal truths, echoes of the shared human experience.
The square format of the images creates a contained world, a window into the surreal realms where reality blurs and the subconscious takes flight. Each square frame is a window into a surreal tapestry, woven from the vibrant threads of memory, imagination, and identity. Colors spill like thoughts, blending and converging, creating landscapes that feel at once familiar and otherworldly. These images are not portraits in the traditional sense, nor are they merely visual riddles; they are mirrors—inviting you to step closer, to see yourself in the layers, to uncover your own essence of being.
In my creative process, I embrace the serendipity of the medium. Each exposure is a dance with uncertainty, a conversation with the unknown. Much like the archetypes themselves, these works are timeless yet ever-evolving. They are reflections of our shared humanity, fragments of the infinite kaleidoscope of being.
This work is both an invitation and a mirror—an invitation to step into the surreal and see the familiar in unfamiliar ways, and a mirror to recognize the archetypes within ourselves. Each image asks: What archetype will you see in the layers? Perhaps it is one you already know—or one you are just beginning to discover.
I thought I would share a new series I have been working on today, in the form of a folio (of sorts.) I wanted to share a set of images, so you can see the entire folio, not just a single image from the set. It has a bit more impact when grouped together like this. You can see some of my previous folios in the portfolios section of my blog or on my gallery website. This is my newest body of work and it’s one I am still working on, although these images have been exhibited.
Until next time…
