Today’s Quote(s) on Photography:
“Amateurs talk about equipment. Professionals talk about photos.” – Anonymous
“And bloggers who ramble on endlessly about what’s on TV or the price of tea in China? I don’t even what to ask what you might call them.” – me
You have no idea how true that statement is about photography. I am on a photo forum where owning "gear" seems more important than how/why/what we shoot.
Oh, yes. It seems like there are a ton of on-line forums filled with these people. It's all "my lens is longer than yours" yada yada nonsense. But, you know, a lot of it is because they are incapable really of talking about work.
I'm very fortunate in that I took up photography at a time when few people were doing it. It wasn't "cool" so nobody was talking about gear, gadgets, etc. so my focus has always been on the image itself, not the equipment. (That and my teacher probably beat me up enough to force me to focus on the important things.)
