Feels Like Home

My latest newsletter is up! For those of you who don’t know, I’ve started a “regular” feature called “Carol’s Chit Chat” which is basically a newsletter (of sorts.) I say, “of sorts” because I have a vision for my newsletter and it’s not what you might imagine. You see, I follow a lot of photographers and, quite frankly, their newsletters leave me cold. They manage to churn out what seems like a collection of shows they are in, stuff they have for sale, and it feels like I am consuming a sales pitch rolled up and wrapped in a nice image. OK, yes, I’ll admit it, the images are nice but, come on! The text that accompanies winds up making me feel like I need a shower after reading it (OK, maybe it’s not *that* bad, but still.) I decided early on that I didn’t want to go that route with Carol’s Little Word so, instead, I opted to skip a newsletter entirely. For a very long time, I just didn’t have one. Problem solved!
Well, not so fast! The trouble is that a lot of the industry expects us to have newsletters, my marketing peeps thought it would be a good idea, and so on. I wound up wanting to do one. I was thinking about it for a while, taking note of some of the good newsletters other photographers had done over the years. At some point, it hit me that I could do a newsletter similar to the one David DuChemin does or John Paul or…. I wanted to craft something somebody would actually wind up reading, not just a list of shows I was in or whatever else is coming up.
Regardless of how it started, it’s continuing tonight. I published my newest newsletter this evening. You can check it out here if you are so-inclined: https://mailchi.mp/e4dea…/carols-chit-chat-feels-like-home

Feels like home indeed!

Until next time…
