Stuck in the house and wondering what to do with yourself? Going crazy wanting to burst out but stuck in quarantine? What better time to send out some of your photography, right? Now, I’m not going to sugar coat it. A lot of shows and opportunities have been postponed on account of the virus, quarantine, and such, but that doesn’t mean there is nothing out there for you. In fact, I was able to scrounge up a few opportunities for you this week:
- Siilk Gallery has an online call for photography. Details:
Please send 8-12 images you feel represent you as a photographer /
artist to – [email protected] along with your Bio to be considered.
We’re on facebook & instagram @siilkgallery - Alex Ferrone Gallery has a call for art for their upcoming “Arborescent” a show about trees. They have extended the deadline due to COVID-19 and you can find entry details on their link: https://www.alexferronegallery.com/arborescent
- Paper Plane Consulting is hosting an online only exhibition entitled “The World Takes a Breath.” From their call:
Whether you’re working in film or video, written word or
performance, sound or music – I want to include your artistic and
creative response to COVID-19. The intent is for this to be an
online-only project to help with artistic exposure at a time when all of
the world’s galleries are closed. This is a free community-based
project without submission or inclusion fees, and we will cover any
hosting costs. Depending on interest, entries, and responses, there
could be future opportunities for publication and presentation. I
hope this will be a fast, emotional, and powerful response around a
subject that for the first time in history the whole planet is talking
about. The provisional launch date is 15 April 2020 so please
send initial expressions of interest with a brief outline of your work

That’s a bunch of opportunities to get you started. As the situation with COVID-19 is changing rapidly, we should expect the gallery situation to follow suit but be on the lookout for pop-up shows, last minute shows, COVID-19 themed shows, and the like. (I was even thinking about turning “Carol’s Little World” into a impromptu gallery of sorts in response to the crisis. Stay tuned for details about that. I may very well have to post my own opportunity here if there is enough interest.)
Until next time…
