I’m taking a rest from the FotoFest reviews to catch up a bit.

I will have three pieces included in the upcoming “Doors” show over at the wonderful Studio 2 Gallery on South Lamar in downtown Austin. Look for the show to open first week of May. My work is going to consist of two encaustic pieces plus one “regular old” photographic print.

I’m also working with the Texas Documentary Photography Group on doing a show in Salado, Texas. To be held at the Salado Wine Sellers, it will be our wine-making documentary work and it opens first week in June. I’m really looking forward to getting up to Salado again-it’s one of my favorite places to visit (and shoot) but I have not been in a while and I am not too certain how it is surviving the big economic crunch. Best guess is “not well” but then, hey, aren’t we all?

I’ll spend some quality time in studio on Thursday-I’m trying to block off an entire studio day so that I can work on some encaustics and do a few other things. I have a few pieces started that I need to finish plus I need to start a few other pieces so that should be fun.

All of this and I’m going to upgrade my camera soon. Since Canon has come out with the Rebel T2i, I will probably pick up one of those. I’m thinking about getting my current Rebel XT converted to infrared, so that I have a second infrared body, not sure about that yet-there’s a lot involved in converting the camera-first I have to make sure the new one works and I’m comfortable with it, then I have to ship it off to make the switch and patiently wait while they do it (ok, maybe not so patiently on the wait there.) Anyway, I’ve been through this before and it’s crazy but it works out in the end. I will probably get a full frame camera at the end of the year (December timeframe) but I’m not in a big hurry to do that, although I could use one before any summer trips (which I’m not telling you about yet.)

Enough babbling, time for me to get out and enjoy the day.

Until next time…

    Hi Carol,
Thanks for your email. I was part way through a reply when my computer crashed, destroyed all the discs (including a lot of photos) and died rather dramatically. I have an old laptop which receives but won't let me send emails and isn't too happy about me looking at websites. So will reply to email when I have my new PC – should be by 11th May. In the meantime, well done on these shows and I hope they all go well.

Oh, Janice, I hope all goes well with your PC woes. I know what a pain that can be. *Fingers crossed* and all.

No worries at all on the reply-just please get yourself back to working again, ok?
